Amidst Economic Hardship NBA Garki Branch Chairman Ezenwobodo Condemns FCTAs Reintroduction Of Park And Pay Policy Citing Past Court Nullification

Amidst the prevailing economic hardships, Obioma Ezenwobodo Esq., Chairman of the NBA Garki Branch, has raised his voice in strong condemnation of the Federal Capital Territory Authority’s (FCTA) decision to reintroduce the contentious park and pay policy.

Ezenwobodo’s stance underlines the pressing concerns regarding this policy’s implications on the already burdened citizens.

With Nigerians and residents of the FCT grappling with the aftermath of fuel subsidy removal, Ezenwobodo asserts that the FCTA’s decision to reintroduce the park and pay policy exacerbates the financial strain on innocent motorists. Ezenwobodo’s expertise as a legal professional adds weight to his claims.

He highlights that the history of this policy is marred with controversy. Notably, in 2014, Justice Peter Affen of the FCT High Court, Apo Abuja, nullified the policy’s previous implementation due to its chaotic consequences. Unregulated contractors partitioned roads, enabling touts and street urchins to exploit motorists and residents under the guise of maintaining order. The court’s intervention ended this tumultuous period.

Despite its past, the FCTA is now attempting to reintroduce the policy, seemingly confident in its legality. Ezenwobodo, however, argues that this endeavor lacks a sound legal foundation and raises doubts about its true intentions.

Ezenwobodo emphasizes that the FCTA must not capitalize on its inability to offer an affordable and efficient public transportation system by imposing onerous levies on innocent motorists. Instead, he calls for a focus on alleviating the hardships endured by FCT residents. He recommends the revival of the “El’Rufai” Bus Shuttles as a pragmatic measure to ease transportation burdens.

Ezenwobodo’s concerns resonate with the growing chorus of discontent surrounding the policy’s potential reintroduction. As the Chairman of the NBA Garki Branch, his stance amplifies the call for considerate and responsive governance, particularly during challenging economic times.

With public outcry mounting, the FCTA faces mounting pressure to reevaluate its decision, taking into account the well-being and concerns of citizens and legal experts. This scenario underscores the intricate balance that governments must strike between revenue generation and the welfare of the populace.
